Accutane and Adult Acne
Should You Use It?

Accutane and adult acne is a serious combination. If you want to get rid of your severe acne once and for all, this is an option to consider.

I know, you've been fighting acne for a long time now and just want to be done with it. If you're now an adult, it's unlikely you've had very severe acne all this time without having tried some form of treatment before. Or maybe it's not that severe but you really just want to get rid of it.

Should you use Accutane pills to cure adult acne?

Maybe you have parents that had acne well into their adult lives.

I truly believe Accutane (also known as Isotretinoin) should be a last ditch effort. Please take a careful look at all the other treatment options I talk about on this site.

Unless you are at risk for some very terrible scarring, you shouldn't jump right to the most powerful drugs.

Why?

Because Accutane is systemic. It isn't a precision tool, it's a blunt hammer. It's not just going after your acne, it changes your body.

The result is a huge laundry bag full of potential side effects, many of which are permanent. And it still doesn't really change the underlying reason you've been getting acne in the first place.

If you have adult acne it's likely you won't have to put up with it much longer. Try some of the natural acne cures, many of which improve your body in other ways as well. You may also just need to find the right cleanser and moisturizer for your skin.

That's what I did, and it worked for me. I never ended up taking any Isotretinoin.

Taking prescription drugs as dangerous as Accutane is a decision that you should really take some time to think over.
