Acne on Back

Similar to acne on chests, my son also suffers from acne on back and I agree that the best preventive measure for this is proper hygiene. Men tend to sweat more and even if they wipe themselves or change shirts every so often, they could not manage to wipe all the sweat off by themselves. Hence, dirt as it accumulates and oil that is excessively produced get clogged and cause acne on back.

My son claims that he takes a shower right after a workout, so he doesn't see any reason how dirt could be accumulated. Nevertheless, what we learned from our research is that dead skin cells occurring on the first layer can also cause pore clogging that can trap acne causing bacteria inside the pores.

That being the case, my son started using a back scrubber that had more abrasives to act as exfoliant, over the sponge he is currently using. It turns out that the skin on the back is a lot thicker than the skin on the face. What I recommend is the sugar-based back scrubber as a milder alternative to the salt based loofahs.

Start using this type of scrubber once a week but be careful in areas where acne on the back is still tender and swollen. You wouldn't want them to scratch and become future scars. If you see some improvement, increase the exfoliation treatments to at least three times a week. This way, the dead skin cells can be eliminated and prevent clogged pores.

Treat your acne on back areas with Aloe Vera natural gel since they have a soothing and cooling effect aside from its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. My son initially tried the tea tree oil which he uses to spot treat his facial acne. However, in using it for the acne on back skin, he experienced some it flowing down to other back areas and felt some stinging effect.

On top of that, make sure you're wearing shirts that are always fresh and clean. Never reuse something you have sweated in and left to hang and dry but is still unwashed. Germs still thrive in them and can easily find another breeding ground on your back once you put them on again.

For those who have the habit of sleeping without their shirt on especially during hot and humid weather. Don't overlook the fact that your bed sheets and pillow cases which you have previously lain on may have been soiled with sweat which caused some germs to get attached to it. Some good indicators for this is the smell and the feel of the sheet. Hence, you should try to change them as often as possible and run them thoroughly through the washing machine.

Acne on back skin like acne on chest can be prevented with simple methods of hygiene that we tend to overlook. Try out these simple treatments for acne on back and you'll soon find your back free from skin blemishes in this area.
