Acne Tips for Men
Posting some acne tips for men here might prove to be helpful, since acne among us guys becomes different once we have to consider other facial issues. I started having acne when I was thirteen and I thought that once I get past my adolescent years, acne problems wouldn't be as bad anymore. Well in a way it did, because acne breakouts became occasional by the time I was about 18; but it also ushered in another kind of acne dilemma.
I started to grow facial hairs which posed certain problems whenever I needed to shave while having those rare acne episodes. My mom said she never realized that acne can be more of a problem for men than it is for girls. Girls didn't have any facial hairs to shave off, so Mom didn't have any acne tips for men that might help me when it comes to acne and shaving. Since my mom is a single parent, I had to ask my grandpa as my next best source of advice.
How to Shave When You Have Acne
At first, I thought Grandpa who looks a bit like Kenny Rogers wasn't much of a help either. He told me that the only technique he could remember using, during his younger years was to wait it out after the acne cleared up before making any attempts to shave. Grandpa said that it was the most sensible thing to do because he always ended up with a nick while trying to avoid the pimple.
He also said that if it was important for me to shave, I will fare better if I used an electric razor than a razor with the conventional blades. However, as I was researching about this in the Internet, I found that most acne tips for men basically recommended the same solution that grandpa recommended. Wait until your pimples are less inflamed before shaving.
The only difference is that, my grandpa didn't have an explanation why. What I learned from experience is that it was hard to shave without applying creams and after shave lotions. However, these substances only aggravated the acne because no matter how gentle I intended my shaving to be over the acne affected area, pimples get pricked. What happens is that the acne lesion gets infected by the shaving cream, causing my acne to take longer to heal.
In the meantime as the acne is still infecting, another round of hair growth takes place. This brings me back to the same dilemma I had before about having acne and shaving. Grandpa was right that the only sensible thing to do is to treat the acne first before making any attempts to shave. I learned from research that this was natural because the skin is at its most tender while in a swollen state.
How to Keep your Skin Acne-Free Now if you want a fast acting treatment for your acne, I found out that the organic type with the licorice root extract proved to be better. I've read that scientists are trying to harness its biological compound along with other organic compounds. Licorice root extract as studies have it, has a lot of potent properties that can act as an anti-microbial to fight acne bacteria. It also helps as an anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant and prevents over production of sebum which is the root cause of acne.
Using acne creams that contain ingredients like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and other similar synthetic chemicals really do not work because they are only treating the present acne breakouts. The licorice root extract treatment present in organic anti-acne creams prevents over production of sebum that causes the promotion of bacterial infection in dirt- clogged pores. That brings me to another acne tip for men. Since dirt is another factor that causes acne as it clogs your pores, make it a point to always wash your face with some mild soap and warm water particularly in areas where facial hair growth takes place. Warm water can open up the pores and allow more efficiency in unclogging the skin off of dirt, dead skin and oil. To prevent the recurrence of acne breakouts, use tea tree oil as your natural moisturizer and natural preventive treatment.
These are acne tips for men that have been tried and tested which I can guarantee will work a hundred percent effectively if you don't drink or smoke excessively. It is also important that you exercise regularly and eat lots of fiber from fruits and vegetables. You should also have enough rest and plenty of water, which can encourage your body to demand from you, by being physically active because the body gets naturally thirsty.
