Food that Help with Acne
I grew up with my grandma whom I have to thank, for helping me eat the food that help with acne prevention. They were simple food really, and which kids wouldn't bother to have as part of their regular meals. But it was different with grandma because she loved to cook and she'd say, "You should eat this because... ". Every meal she cooked had a purpose since she believed it's the only way to prevent the diseases that has been plaguing people lately. I think, she meant cancer by that.
Anyway grandma remained beautiful even on the day she passed away. She said she never experienced pimple as a problem at all because they naturally went away and never had a chance of ever getting any bigger than a mere speck. That's why I believed her when she said that the following food is important to keep you healthy:
Walnuts, Macadamia and Brazil Nuts- I made a research about this for my college term paper about natural oils that were used by people during the olden days when sunscreen was still unheard of. I learned that they had a lot of omega 3 fatty acids that acted as skin oxidant as it gave oils that keep our skin supple and elastic. As a food that helps with acne prevention, the fatty acid helped regulate the sebum or pimple causing oil from over production.
Berries and Citrus fruits- like lemon, lime and grapefruit. Citrus fruits were grandma's favorites because she know they contained a lot of vitamin C. But I learned from researching that grapefruit for one contained oligometric proanthrocyanidins or OPCs which was particularly helpful for the skin. Grape seed has twenty times more Vitamin C than any other citrus fruits that help in eradicating the free radicals that caused cancer.
Whole wheat breads and cereals- These foods help with acne prevention due to the dietary selenium they contain. Selenium is a mineral that helps in skin repair and regeneration so even if get a pimple or two, scars don't easily form because the cells are healthy enough to self heal and regenerate. Besides, these foods also help with proper elimination of body wastes, keeping our body constantly rid of toxins.
Water- This is what everyone should have plenty of because it helps in the transport of nutrients, and blood circulation as it contains the oxygen that our cells need and helps in the elimination of wastes in our body.
Grandma had a lot more in her list of food that will keep us healthy but she still she wonders why some of the people she knew developed those dreadful diseases that attacked the body slowly. Well, she often shook her head when I explained to her about how modern science had been tampering with food and turning them into genetically modified substances.
Nevertheless, eating natural food that help with acne prevention can bring us more health benefits aside from preventing acne breakout.
I'm now a dermatologist, and I know that skin disorders or acne are mere symptoms that our body cells are getting more than their fair share of hormonal secretions. To keep things balanced, our main concerns when it comes to food are those that help in proper blood circulation which our body organs need.
