Cheap Homemade Natural Acne Treatment Options
Homemade natural acne treatments or home remedies for curing acne pimples are a cheap and somewhat effective method for healing break outs.
Please note that these are all topical spot treatments or masks. They are not long term solutions to your acne problem. All they do is help heal the acne you already have a little faster. The best thing about them is that they're generally quite inexpensive!

They can be particularly useful if you are more self-conscious about your acne than usual due to a big event coming up in a day or two. I wouldn't really recommend relying on these day after day however. The other natural acne cures will work better in the long run.
Also note that these home remedies work best for mild acne. Spot treatments masks for cystic acne may help a little but won't clear your skin completely.
- Ice Cubes
Apply ice to the acne before bed and by the morning the inflammation should be reduced - or at least less than what it would have been. I've found that direct application of the ice can be a little too intense and may actually irritate the skin, which doesn't really help the situation. Ideally apply it indirectly and before a white head forms for best results. This treatment will reduce swelling and redness.- Toothpaste
This ubiquitous household item is a pretty classic home remedy acne treatment. Apply the toothpaste on your acne before bed and leave it on overnight. The toothpaste will dry out the skin while reducing the size and redness of the pimple. The downside is that you may get your bedsheets dirty overnight and the toothpaste may burn a little, especially if there are any open wounds. Anecdotally, the paste works better than the gel form.- Baking Soda
This home remedy is a very cheap treatment option, but there are downsides. You mix the baking soda with water to make a somewhat thick paste, and apply it to your face for about a minute or so. You can also choose to leave it on longer for more troublesome areas if you want to. The baking soda acts as a great exfoliant, but it can also be too aggressive for sensitive skin like mine (it burns).- Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vindegar is more for people with blackhead problems, as apple cider vinegar acts as a toner. It evens out skin tone and reduces pore size. You may dilute the vinegar with water if it is too harsh for your sensitive skin. Apple Cider Vinegar is cheap but it also smells pretty bad. Using regular vinegar is also an option.- Egg Whites
Using egg whites as a mask seems to be a very successful method for people who try it, but some may have moral issues against it. Separate the egg whites from the egg and apply as a mask, and leave it on overnight. This mask will tone and heal your skin.- Lemon Juice
Many benefits arise from using lemon juice topically. Not only is it a cleanser, but it is also anti-bacterial and a toner. It does burn and dry your skin but it can also help heal acne scars faster.- Honey
Try to use raw and organic honey if you can as it has more nutrients and enzymes, but it is also more expensive. Honey is anti-bacterial, is great "skin food", and acts as a moisturizer. The downside is that it is a little sticky and messy to use. This is my personal favorite homemade natural acne treatment.- Oatmeal
Oatmeal masks are best used for people who have oily skin. You should make a paste by mixing the oatmeal with water. Apply the paste to the face, preferably twice daily, and leave the mask on for 10-20 minutes before rinsing it off. The oatmeal will help absorb the excess oil and toxins from your skin.- Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera has been known for quite some time as a great natural plant for healing the skin. It is used for burns, scratches, and scrapes - but you can also use Aloe Vera for acne as well! I recommend getting it straight from the plant itself if you can. If that's not possible, try to get one that is as pure as possible.
I'm not sure if there's a best homemade natural acne treatment, because each of them has their own positives and negatives that are subjective to each person. The best thing you can do is try a few of them out, since most are rather inexpensive, and find out what works for you.
