Help with Acne Scars
Applying chemical peels help with acne scars, but based on my experience it wasn't for long and for good. You see I am one of those who belong to the less fortunate generation who did not have much to go on as treatment for acne much less for acne scars. Once you had them, you had them. Way back then our generation didn't know any other type of doctor but the family physician. Dermatologists were still unheard of and Clearasil was a formulation we were afraid of because there were a lot of rumors. Mom wouldn't hear of me using one and instead kept pounding it in me not to stay up late so my acne won't act up.
I wasn't too conscious of my kind of diet too, since I enjoyed eating a lot of food that was deep fried as crisp and crunchy. Naturally, as a teenager I got all the acne I deserved and in fact even more. Pimples simply appeared piling up one on top of the other. It made me wisen up and started paying attention to what my mother was saying as bad for my "acne". In time, after going through those adolescent years, my acne went away but not without leaving me some scars.
Looking for some help with acne scars was the first in my agenda as soon as I landed a job as a young adult. My chances of dating girls have started to thin out since most of the ones I knew seemed to have met some better choices. Naturally, I blamed my acne scars. I was recommended with a chemical peel by a dermatologist and I could say that the results were fairly good. Although I experienced real tomato redness and excessive peeling during that time and I had to take an emergency leave.
My acne scars did clear up a bit since I felt my skin was tighter and looked healthier but only for a couple of months. Now I wasn't one who will go through all that nonsense again and pay for a hefty sum. It never crossed my mind to ask the derma how long the effects of the chemical peel would last because I had the impression that it was going to be for forever. I was downright frustrated when I started noticing my acne scars surfacing again. My dermatologist recommended another fomulation as some form of help with my acne scars to prevent its resurfacing.
The new formulation helped with my acne scars but not my lifestyle. I was a feeling a bit cramped because I couldn't stay out under the sun for long. As usual, my stubborn attitude caused some dark pigmentation and my dermatologist said I shouldn't risk being under the sun while using the chemical peel for very obvious reasons. So that's when I decided that getting help with my acne scars was not worth it.
I was a lot happier even with those acne scars on, because I was not restricted from doing things I liked to do. I am basically an outdoor type of person and I just hate it if I couldn't take my mountain bike out for as long as I wanted to do during my spare time. My derma suggested laser treatment which I of course declined. One help for acne scar that didn't work was enough. I'd prefer being happy with my acne scars and today, I just think of them as reminders of my happy days during my adolescent years. Too bad for the girls, they just have to love me and my acne scars.

Natural Acne Scar Treatment
My reliance on natural acne scar treatment began when I started reading issues about the cancer causing effects of harsh chemicals. Chemical peels may be very effective but I started researching about chemicals as they are applied to the body.
Most chemicals although not all, are said to be capable of activating free radicals once it touches the skin. Free radicals are the molecules that could not find another molecule to pair-up with in order to form a cell; hence, they hang around inside the body until they mutate and form into cancer growths.
Although chemical peels are said to affect only the first layer of the skin, there are chemicals present used as additional ingredient in order to preserve the shelf-life of the chemical peels. These chemicals are strong enough to penetrate the skin which makes the acne scar treatment chemical formulations harmful.
The harmful effects of the chemicals take a long time before they become full-blown health disorder. All this started to make me look around for natural acne scar treatment.
To cut the story short, I was so overwhelmed by all the information regarding the use of chemicals that I vowed never again to use a treatment that was chemically based. Anyway, traditional medicines are mostly based on natural ingredients and people during the olden days made use of natural or organic substances.
I researched some more and I found that there are quite a number of natural scar treatments to try and I tried out which of them will be most effective for my acnes scars.
Lemon Juice, Sandalwood and Fenugreek Seeds
Lemon juice for one has a bleaching effect and effective if your acne scars are dark skin blemishes. Apply Vitamin E oil to promote the regeneration of new skin cells.
The best acne scat treatment preparation I've ever tried for my acne scars is sandalwood powder wit black gram mixed with a few drops of lemon juice and sandalwood essential oil to form a paste. I leave it on overnight and then wash my face with cold water the next morning.
Sandalwood has many properties that make it effective as a natural acne scar treatment. It has cicatrisant as ingredients which give sandalwood good antiseptic, astringent, emollient and anti-inflammatory properties.
Now if you're curious as to what cictrisants are, it refers to the active agents present in sandalwood that promote healing, cell regeneration and eventually formation of new tissues.
If you want to try another natural acne scar treatment, I suggest you allow the ingredient at least a month to see if it takes effect. Unlike chemically formulated creams, a natural acne scar treatment will take longer before any visible improvement takes place. This is simply because you will be relying on its natural goodness in promoting the natural process of skin healing and tissue formation. Give it a month before trying other ingredients that will be best suited for your skin or scar type.
In fact, I use a decoction to act as preventive natural acne scar treatment by boiling 1 teaspoon of Fenugreek seeds to 1liter of water with one teaspoon of lemon juice. This is what I use for maintenance since it is effective in preventing scar formation in case acne breaks out again.
Try this natural acne scar treatment and if it doesn't work, there are other natural ingredients available that may be suitable for you.
