Pictures of Acne - Benzoyl Peroxide Made My Skin Worse!

Here are some pictures of acne. This is me after having taken benzoyl peroxide religiously for two months. My acne was actually worsened because of the increase in inflammation.

These are actually cystic acne pictures - notice how deep and inflamed my skin became. My theory is that the benzoyl peroxide just made the acne occur deeper in my skin, where the BP couldn't get to. That's the problem with only using one topical treatment - it just doesn't tackle all of the reasons why you have acne.

	This acne picture is the back of my neck. I've never had such an inflamed nodule in my life, it was literally bigger than a toonie (Canadian two dollar coin). It eventually formed a whitehead after about a week and lasted for a couple weeks after that.
	Here is the left side of my neck with a couple huge pustules. This is what really made me figure out that the benzoyl peroxide I was taking wasn't going to work. I hated getting pimples on my neck, especially on the side like this. Twisting and turning my head would be very painful. I think the soft skin on the neck made me especially vulnerable to deep nodular acne like this.
	This is the other side of my neck at around the same time, with some cysts/nodules shown. I found the pimples would break out wherever I was not putting some benzoyl peroxide, so I kept increasing the surface area I was applying to. So eventually I was applying BP behind my ears and to the back of my neck.

I didn't think applying BP to my entire body was practical, so I opted to quit and try to find a better solution.

I hope these pictures of acne help to show you the risks of taking benzoyl peroxide. It didn't work for the kind of acne I had. So if you have moderate to severe acne, I recommend not bothering with it.

I also had some cystic acne on my face, but were fairly random in location and were not as upload worthy.
