Pimple Popping Makes Your Acne Worse
Pimple popping is something almost anyone with acne does. Popping a zit may seem harmless but it actually does much more harm than good.
You could get all the other steps right in your acne treatment program, but you will not see complete success until you stop your habit of skin picking. You may have the habit so ingrained that you don't even realize what you're doing when you pop a zit.
My Experience
When I had acne I couldn't stand the sight of a whitehead. I squeezed every one of them, because I couldn't bear going out into public with the white bumps exposed.
Not only that, but my cystic acne was painful. I took every opportunity to get rid of the pain whenever a whitehead would form. Sometimes, I'd even squeeze nodules or cysts without a whitehead because I just wanted the pain to go away.
I didn't really realize that the redness got worse after I had popped the zit. The blemish was even more noticeable than before, but I didn't care.
Frequently the deeper ones would come back with a vengeance. Sometimes multiple heads would form, and I would just keeping pimple popping. I started to notice that the pimples kept showing up in the same areas, but I didn't really question why.
Later on I started to see that scars were developing. I became more aware of the problem and starting looking for answers. Even after I had found the answers I was looking for, it took me many months to finally break the decade-long habit.
Why is Pimple Popping Such a Bad Idea?

When you squeeze a pimple, you might accidentally push some of the contents of the zit deeper inside the follicle. The follicle can then rupture, if it hadn't already, and spread the zit's contents deep in the skin.
Don't be fooled by thinking you were careful and got everything out. You never really do - there's always some pus that goes deeper into the skin. This pus just spreads the infection which ultimately has to come out naturally anyways.
If you do pop a zit, you also ruptured the skin. This rupture will never heal back to how it was before, and a scar will likely develop. The pore is then an abnormal shape and size, which makes it even more likely to be clogged again.
The extra irritation you cause ends up promoting further acne to develop, and your skin ends up looking worse in both the short run and the long run. So why bother popping zits?
Just Stop Picking Your Skin
Skin picking is a psychological battle. You need to be comfortable enough in your own skin, despite its imperfections. There really isn't any logically sound reason for pimple popping. People don't notice your zits as much as you think they do.
You will get rid of your acne much faster if you stop touching your face as much as possible. Minimize the irritation and good things will start happening. This habit takes time and effort to form, and the results can take many weeks to come as well.
This reality can be problematic for many people, and I totally understand why. It took me many weeks of disciplined effort to stop pimple popping, and I would still slip up here and there without even noticing at first.
Popping zits may seem like a socially acceptable thing you should do, but it really does more harm than good. So please, go against the crowd on this one.
