Tips for Covering Acne
by Jenny
What is the best way and tips for covering acne? I remember way back when I was a teenager, pimples that popped out, occasionally, were a cause of teasing by my classmates. My sensitive skin, easily, acquires bumps and turns red at the gust of wind or exposure to sun’s heat. It is a good thing that early in life, I learned to take care of my skin. Nevertheless, when there is an occasion to attend and pimples or bumps are visible, I would always think of covering acne to make me look at my best.
When I have clear, pimple free skin, I am confident and I don’t feel the need to wear any makeup at all. However, when you have oily skin like I do, you can’t avoid having blackheads, pimples and the like. The favorite spot where blackheads appear is on my nose while pimples emerge on my chin, most of the time. For the latter, I wonder if I it is because of the fluoride in the toothpaste I’m using. Sometimes, it accidentally, touches areas surrounding my lips. A pimple will, eventually, appear on whatever it comes in contact with.
Though it is true that you can prevent acne and effectively treat them, you cannot just get rid of it, all at once. Once it is there, it stays for quite some time till it dries up. So until then, here are some tips for covering acne when you feel the need to:
• Before anything else, clean your face well, most especially the area that you plan to conceal.
• Dab some concealer on the area where your pimples are. Just use a small amount to lightly cover them.
• Use liquid foundation and spread over the entire face.
• Finally, brush on powder to set the foundation. You could go for mineral powders that efficiently cover areas with acne. A lot of cosmetic giants offer their own version of mineral products and you can try out the best one for you.
When using concealer, foundation and mineral powder, the color has to match your skin tone. There are many shades available so you would, surely, find one. In addition to this, you have to clean makeup tools before using them. I don’t use a sponge since it, easily, catches bacteria. Instead, I use makeup brushes that I wash, regularly, with my shampoo and conditioner. I care for them the way I do my hair.
There are times when I like my skin to breathe so I don’t wear any makeup at all. This is what I do when I have some pimples:
• To move the attention away from my face, I wear striking clothes that would surely catch the eye of lookers.
• I fix my hair in such a way that it covers the said area.
• I use big shades to conceal pimple laden skin.
Whatever technique you want to use in covering acne, it is all a matter of attitude. However, the best way is of dealing with acne is to have none, to start with. This can only be possible with good skin care habits.
